This membership organisation receives about $500,000 annually, but there are no financial reports on where this money is spent. The War Invalid Association, on the other hand, says they have doubts about the expense of the money they pay for membership.
Hysni Gucati, who has been chairman of the KLA War Veterans Organisation since October 2016, says in an interview with Kosova Preis that they have no financial report on money spent but has the names of all those who helped them.
It's true to us, membership is 15 euros per year. It's dropping 1 euro and 20 cents per month. So with that membership survives branches and survives the organization of veterans, which protects the interests of veterans. From the beginning, from 2000 to a year and a half or two, there have been 24 or 25 thousand veterans who received the card. Now the number has grown. We have about 35 thousand veterans who are members of”, he said.
From the money they receive from membership, according to him, branches survive, the centre and part of them used to help the families of veterans who need them, but says they have no complaints from veterans about spending the money they receive from them.
The “is very true that require assessment, to know where membership money goes. We didn't have a complaint. Because we, families who are post mortum, veterans who have died, are released. They don't pay membership. No vet who died to this day, and when he estimates it's a large number of them that's dead, those families don't pay, that's. They've got cards without looking. Members of the heads at the branch level, who are released and their partners, we can name names. That we help our friends very much... With the money we receive from membership, we have allocated over 9 thousand euros in aid to friends in recent months. Especially we have friends and cancer patients... We try as little to be around our friends. Especially friends who died. Every family, every veteran who has died, at least we have been there to help them. We have names and surnames that he didn't mention now”, he said.
But he says the time will come when they will publish the names of all veterans who were helped.
There are many families we have helped. We have names. Perhaps someday the time will come for us to take comfort in the favor of our friends, those”, he said.
While Gevdet Qeriki, from the War Invalids Association, tells Kosovo Press that veterans have doubts about the spending of money they pay for membership.
Yes, there are suspicions of veterans as well. In the communications I have with them, there are doubts that these tools are not going to the right place”, he said.
According to him, veterans complain and about the amount of 15 euros they pay to name as too high, given their financial situation.
It's too big. Because their situation, of many veterans, is difficult. I think it's too big. And if these are given, those in need should be helped. If you don't help those veterans who need it, it's too big... I have a lot of contacts with them. They complain about the plural, it's too big for them to deal with. As far as aid is concerned, there are very few of the veterans' organization... Compared with help, it is a huge payment. Because it's a very large number of veterans who carry out this payment, and on the basis of that, it's a substantial amount, which should necessarily be a report on where they went”, he said.
The government says that for membership in the War Invalid Organisation they pay 12 euros a year and that they always report on the expenses made.
