Just months ago, North Korean leader Kim Jong stood alone, as the international community empowered economic sanctions against him. Now, leaders from around the world are lined up pending a meeting with him.
Kim could soon shake hands with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad at separate meetings.
Northern Korean state media have announced Assad and Kim will meet in North Korea, however unclear whether Assad has confirmed the meeting, Kosova Prees follows.
Also, Russian media reported on Monday that Putin has invited Kim to a summit in Vladivostok, Russia, this September, but without a specific date.
None of the meetings seem a big surprise -- if we remember that Russia and Syria have maintained old alliances with the Kim regime. However, the time when these meetings are expected is a bit special. Kim is interested in meeting with the American president, expected on June 12th in Singapore.
It is not yet known whether Kim's meetings with Putin and Assad are connected. But both cases would no doubt present a solid spirit amid authoritarian regimes.
