The issue that is holding back the announcement of an agreement in Albania-Greece talks is the maritime pact, which talks still continue. The Greek newspaper To Vima, referring to government sources, says it is about one of the most important diplomatic processes between the two countries.
This will fix the issue of maritime borders between the two countries, enabling the exploitation of large reserves of estimated hydrocarbons in this area, especially for Greece, which has the priority of the process.
The new agreement being compiled takes into account Albanian side's objections, giving it more space. The Greek side says this does not change the substance, while at the same time creating Economic Exclusions in the Ionian Sea is a very positive precedent for Kasteloris and Greek sovereign rights in the Aegean Sea.
What it understands is that Albania may have advanced to sea surfaces, starting measurements from internal bays, while Greece has gained the right to clear 12 miles of territorial sea. Two days later Prime Minister Rama also called on me, said the agreement is relevant and that Albanians will see the change with the old agreement on the map.
Greek diplomacy, on the other hand, has a unchanged position regarding their share in property claims.
It is based on the convention, which says that European property rights protection does not lie ahead of the events of 1950, writes Lapsy.al.
