In the Global Peace Index, Kosovo results in the most endangered country in the region. The US Institute for Economy and Peace, headquartered, has published its 12th report, which says the peace situation has deteriorated over the past year to 92 countries in the world, while in 71 others is better.
This means that the negative trend of worsening the situation continues for the fourth year in a row.
Kosovo ranks 92nd from the surveyed countries, Albania holds the 52nd position, while Serbia ranks 54th.
Of the Balkan countries, Slovenia (11th) and Croatia ( 27th) are best ranked. Montenegro is listed 58th, Macedonia 87th and Bosnia and Herzegovina is 89th.
In view of this survey, Kosovo and Bosnia are the countries with the lowest level of stable peace in the region, which does not surprise much, says “Deutsche Welle”, if national and territorial strains are taken into account in these two countries.
Steve Killlea, founder and chairman of this institute, says the deterioration of the situation in these 10 years has to do with increasing the number of wars, primarily in the Middle East. The last place on the list is Syria, while a little higher are Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen and Libya. The highest level of peace is Iceland, New Zealand, Denmark, Canada and Chechia.
