Recep Tayip Erdogan is the most powerful Turkish leader after the founder of the Republic, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and his trails require to leave in Turkey's largest metropolis, Istanbul.
To that end, in 2013 it started building the largest mosque in Turkey at the time of the Republic. Chumlija, the largest hill ever seen in Istanbul, has been chosen for the construction site.
By the time the construction is going to a close, Sabah newspaper has been able to photograph the mosque for the first time with a capacity of 63 thousand.
The mosque was expected to be inaugurated on June 10th, on the night of Kari during the month of Ramadan, as well as 14 days before early parliamentary and presidential elections, but the works have not ended and the inauguration has been postponed for an indefinite date.
The 6-mine mosque extends to 11,000 square metres and inland there will be an art gallery, museum, conference hall, library and a parking lot for 3,500 cars.
