Germany's former ambassador to Kosovo, Ernst Rychel, has come to the defense of Swiss Albanian footballers Granit Jaka and Gerdan Shaqiri, after both celebrated by making the two-headed eagle with their own hands after marking from a goal towards Serbia at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Rachel, now German ambassador to Ukraine, has called Serbia's reactions to Jaka and Shaqiri's actions in Kaliningrad meaningless on Friday.
“I cannot understand why someone is offended because two Swiss players have made the Albanian eagle after their goals”, it is expressed.
“The double eagle is a symbol of the Albanian flag (and of several other flags)”, the German diplomat has recalled.
Making this mark is nothing different than displaying the flag. And, the flags appear in every international match”, Rachel said.
“It's all right to be proud of your country or at your own origin”, the diplomat is done.
