Albania will have to appear again at the doors of the European Union in June 2019 to seek the opening of negotiations because this process failed for many reasons, including the rare fight against crime and corruption.
Prime Minister Edi Rama, whose government bears responsibility for this failure, has drawn the anger of negotiations on refugees currently in Europe.
In a pronomation for German media "Bild" Rama has declared that Albania “will never accept refugee camps from the EU.”
The prime minister has exacerbated his language when he says housing in Albania with refugees means that you store somewhere desperate people as toxic wastes that nobody loves.” He has added that the Albanian side is willing to help somewhat in the European burden, but that does not mean the country will maintain the problems of the entire EU.
“No country can afford the current refugee crisis”, Rama said, “is a dangerous solution to make Albania a swamp for European refugees”.
As for the possibility of our country accepting refugees in exchange for opening the negotiations, Rama has stressed that she has never thought to make a <x0-second heroic” to receive negotiations as a “geist gratitude”.
That is the harshest and firmest stance Prime Minister Rama takes on the refugee issue, though discussions have been numerous in recent weeks. The prime minister's severity comes without filling 24 hours of Brussels' decision not to open accession negotiations with Albania.
