EU: We have no plans for founding camps for refugees

EU Ambassador to Albania Romana Vlahin responded flatly to news stories that circulated in the media for an EU plan to build camps for Syrian refugees on Albania's territory as a condition for opening negotiations. No, there is no plan and there is no such effort [...]
“
If there are conditions for Albania”, the ambassador continues, “those are conditions to improve the country more, in the sense of good governance. So, all that has to do with law enforcement, rule of law, good governance, but nothing about migration or the establishment of camps for refugees”, VoA reports.
While the EU countries' positive recommendation for opening negotiations is expected, Ambassador Vlahin praised the reforms the country has undertaken.
“For the European Commission”, Ambassador Vlahatin said, “has been clear that Albania has reached a stage where it must open negotiations. And that's a very important factor. In a way, she added, Albanians should be satisfied with the way reforms have been made, while, for the rest, that of opening negotiations, we will expect June 29th”.
Vlahin praised justice reform as the most comprehensive reform ever undertaken in a country in transition. She said she hoped that, before the end of the year, independent institutions would be established and the Veting process will continue at a higher pace.
“This is a process of internal transformation”, continued Ambassador Vlahatin, “and Albanian citizens understand and demand these reforms to live better and to a better Albania”.
Meanwhile, in response to the concern of local municipal officials “The Great Malex1> over property problem, the EU ambassador said she was completely aware that this is an extraordinary and existing problem throughout Albania. She added that the situation is urgent to resolve the issue of property rights, as it concerns human rights and investment in the country.
