Those comments, he made for Radio Free Europe after a meeting he held with Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, with which he has expressed concern for the cases, as he said, in the recent rise of incidents in proportion to members of minority communities.
“I just had a good meeting with the prime minister, where we also handled this matter. Of course, I expressed my concern about the sad number of recent incidents directed at certain individuals, some members of the Serb minority. I think these incidents are totally unacceptable”, Delawi stressed.
“we welcome the government's statement issued yesterday. However, I want to see more done. I think the police are clearly reacting in a positive way and that is good, but this answer has to be improved and that they have to work more on prevention and not just to deal with things after it happened”, Delawi stressed.
Kosovo is multiethnic society and I think it's up to every person to do his best to live with their neighbours. And I think everyone has the responsibility to live in peace with their neighbors, or her”, he said.
I certainly demand that people not allow rhetoric from other circles to foster negative and criminal behavior. This only hurts Kosovo; it harms Kosovo's intentions for the future of each citizen of this country”, the US ambassador said.
I must say that claims of organised terror or sudden interventions in the north only serve to raise tensions between communities and create greater uncertainty for all. All sides including media should be carefully measuring words, examining the impact of their words, and making efforts to contribute to security and tranquillity in Kosovo”, he said.
All in the end, Delawi also said there is no need to say that it is important that all, from all Kosovo communities, work together for reconciliation and better future for all Kosovo citizens.
