Thaci's request for support in the dialogue team by opposition parties has been countered by LDK deputy chairman Ismet Beqiri.
Beqiri has said that the LDK's position has not changed and that the time for which it has joined the unity team at the helm with President Rugova in Vienna differs from the current situation.
“President Thaci must bear in mind that it is being a matter of different time contexts, and President Rugova is known what he has done for this country, what's important is that we're talking about the time when we have our elected democratic institutions, we have our state let them do their jobs on the basis of competencies, this is being”, it's been expressed to Beqiri.
According to him, what Thaci is doing by fighting behind previous statements is a warning that something bad will happen for Kosovo, meanwhile, has denied that the LDK will compromise with the dialogue team.
“No one today can hide behind the various statements of earlier times or of present times, that is also a warning that something bad will happen to our country when it says such things, and how much more so when it makes claims that we will compromise. We will not compromise at the expense of our country”.
On the other hand, Beqiri has said that only agreements are expected from dialogue, but not changes to Kosovo's status. He has added that the LDK as the opposition will convey any development in dialogue that is not in the interest of Kosovo will not allow it to pass through the assembly.
“We cannot prevent Thaci from going into dialogue, but we will prevent any eventual agreements he can make and that is not in the interest of Kosovo”, the LDK deputy chairman stressed.
According to Beqiri, Thaci does not represent the unity of the people after losing credibility to him.
Meanwhile, in terms of what the LDK expects from the lines of dialogue, Beqiri has said their hope is assistance from international friends like the US and European Union countries.
“We take the same attitude, our full faith is that they will help us and support us with our friends head over with the United States. If someone believes the LDK and believes them are the US and the powerful states of the European Union”, Beqiri has concluded.
