The taxi driver who had entered the sidewalk in downtown Moscow today, not far from the Red Square, was not under the influence of alcohol but fell asleep at the wheel, sources from the emergency service to Russian media have said.
Eight people were injured in the incident, including fans who came to the World Cup
Sources told TAS agency that the taxi driver from Kyrgyzstan was staying in Russia legally and had all the documentation needed for work.
Initially suspected of terrorist attacks, but Russian media now point to the incident.
However, this seems not very reliable, but rather as a strategy for the Russian state not to inspire fear in fans, which would affect the number of tourists through which Russia claims to benefit the country's economy financially.
