In 2011, John Alite was sentenced to 10 years in prison for charges as participants in a host of crimes, such as murder, fines, drugs, theft, and hiding crime. During his years in prison, John Alite collaborated with US federal authorities, testifying before them against the Gambino Mafia family, Gottti, Charles Carneglia and his former associates, evidence that deeply shaken the crime empire of the Gambino Mafia family, the latest Cosa Nostra.
After that he published two books and a movie.
I'm not from the Italian mafia, I'm Albanian who at one time took control of some things that happened in America. It's important for me that Albanians know the real story about what happened in the book and in the movie, and there are witnesses who I've injured or killed any family member and who talk about changing my life, what I've done then and what I'm doing now,” said John Alite in a premonition for Klan Kosova.
This is the first time in Kosovo. John Edward Alite is originally from Gjirokastra. After agreeing to co-operate, Alite was released from prison on bail, with the status of the repentant and with the status of witness protection, thus failing to make ten years in prison, which he was initially convicted.
