Egypt is the most successful country on the continent of Africa, which has won the Africa Cup for seven times. It is currently in ninth place in the FIFA world rankings, making the team one of only three national African teams in the world's top ten.
So far, only twice has it been able to qualify at the World Cup (in 1934 and 1990), failing to win a match in both cases.
Egypt's national team was the first African and Middle East team to qualify at the World Cup.
