Why does Van Diyk only name “Virgi” in the Dutch fanele

Virgil van Dijk has chosen to retain his first name in the Netherlands fanele during the World Cup -- a decision that according to a family confession relates to a difficult personal history.
The Netherlands launched the tournament with a 2-2 draw on Japan in Dallas, making the F Group race remain too open for the remaining matches.
Meanwhile, attention was also turned to the Dutch captain's fan, who has chosen to write “Virgi” instead of his last name, unlike what he uses in Liverpool.
According to a confession given by his uncle Steven Fo Sieew, reason has been linked to a difficult family relationship since his childhood.
He has said Van Diek's father left his family when he was only 12 years old, leaving his mother as the main figure who took care of the children.
The confession emphasizes that Father's absence at important times in his life affected the way he is identified today, making him choose to be represented only by his first name.
His uncle also highly praised Van Diek's mother, saying she worked full-time and at the same time cared for the three children, enabling him to continue his path to football.
