While Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga had decorated the Albanian-born academic Mateja Matevski for his vital work and contribution to literature, science and the approach of Balkan peoples.
But the poet and academic Matevski during the decoration's admission had stated that he regretted that he could not be run in Albanian, as his Albanian is dialectic and forgotten, and had shown that he did not reside in Reca and grew up in Gostivar and Skopje, while his parents' home was in Reka, and that route had led him to other directions, both as a writer and as a journalist.
The academy Matevski has also been chairman of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ASHAM) in the period 2001- 2004, director general of Macedonia's Radio Television, chairman of the Writers League in Macedonia, as well as known at many awards won at the local and international level.
