Western Balkans at critical turn

The renewed political interest of the EU in the Western Balkans cannot be the only force that will push the region forward, but the responsibility for implementing reforms in that region and reconciliation must come from within, primarily from local and national authorities.

So states the European Parliament Research Service Study.

The first thematic study under the project “Peace and Security at 2018<18x1>, made for the needs of the European Parliament on the part of this institution's analytical and investigative body, refers to the Western Balkans and the EU's success in building peace in that region.
