An area of mountains in northwest Venezuela's Andes has been covered by snow, an unusual event for this time of year. The locals have been shaken by May's magic.
Merida residents, a colonial city on Mount Pico El Agula, are celebrating the fallen snow by sharing photos on Twitter. Because of its high altitude, the area is usually covered with snow during the months of July and August.
The mountain point is set at over 4,000 feet [4,000 m] above sea level, where the average temperature is five degrees Fahrenheit [5 ° C].
There is low oxygen levels on this mountain in the atmosphere, making it a relatively inhospitable place, compared to the country's capital of Caracas, which has average temperatures of 23 degrees.
A passionate climber travelled to the frozen waterfall in Pico Humoldt, the second - highest peak in Venezuela, to grab some photographs.
