LDK Deputy Chairman Agim Veliu has said that Kosovo should soon obtain visa liberalisation for its citizens as the last country in the region that does not enjoy that right.
He said they have let the LDK leadership know that during their meeting with European Parliament Vice President Rainer Wieland and Johannes D. Rey, chief of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Foundation for Macedonia and Kosovo.
Veliu said they have asked European parliamentarians that Kosovo get visa liberalisation of Kosovo citizens in European states as Kosovo has already met the criteria for ratification of the border with Montenegro.
He added that at this meeting they have discussed the sister-in-the-right party on issues that are of common interest to the Democratic League of Kosovo, but also the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, as well as the beginning of talks with other political subjects to reach a consensus on these issues, as has been the vote of demarcation, but other important decisions.
Our interest, of course, was for visa liberalisation. We talked jointly with the vice president, and of course our request is for this process to move as quickly as possible and to work together in achieving this goal for the citizens of Kosovo. But of course we are not today to promise the date when this will happen, but we are working to meet all the criteria and conditions required by the European Union so that visa liberalisation can happen as soon as possible for Kosovo citizens”, Deputy Chairman Veliu stressed.
The LDK's number two has indicated that at the meeting with European parliamentarians, they have discussed other issues of importance to Kosovo.
While European Parliament Vice President Rainer Wieland said it was a fruitful meeting and expressed satisfaction that the LDK is open and pro-Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
It was an interesting and valid meeting. It's the third time I've been in Kosovo, but it's the first time I've ever met our sister party in this dimension with these structures. Clearly, this party is the citizens, as is my party in Germany, the CDU, and I am very happy to hear, that this party is open even in favour of dialogue. I was also pleased that the LDK is in the race to delegate the most promises to citizens of”, Wieland stressed.
The vice president of the European Parliament today had meetings with other state representatives in Pristina.
