The government of Kosovo has declared the year 2018 as the year of the metallural complex “Trepca”, but has not yet managed to complete the Supervisor Board, which is needed for the functioning and revival of this complex.

Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has called for increased commitment and greater commitment, so that “Trepca” can be revived and its resources reactivated, turning it into the Kosovo economic development mission.
To that end, the Law for Trepca has also been adopted, but its implementation has remained hostage due to the lack of completion and functioning of the Board for this nation.

In the past month, the executive has named six of the board's nine members, while the three members of the Serb community have not yet been elected, as provided by law.
Board members say members of the Serb community in the northern part are willing to accept these positions, but that Belgrade is hampering their appointment.

Happily Sadiku, chairman of the “Trepca Union” -- simultaneously a member of the Board -- has told Radio Free Europe that Belgrade is keeping the Board's functionalisation blocked by pressure from becoming part of it.
“I believe that the citizens' share in the northern part are interested in being part of the Board, as they live in Kosovo. But, politics is affecting here, namely, official Belgrade”.

I've had meetings with the labour union chairman in the northern part. They're interested, but it's hard because of policy intervention”, Sadiku says.
Known as the metallural giant, “Trepca” is divided into two parts, in the Serb-dominated north and south with Albanian miners working under the management of Kosovo authorities. Situated in such a situation, it is after 19 years since the end of the Kosovo war. This nation failed to recover.

The supervisory board of “Treps”, under the law, which was adopted in 2016, had to be founded within six months of its approval in the Kosovo Assembly.
According to this law, the ownership of the complex is carried by the Kosovo Privatisation Agency (AKP) to the Government of Kosovo, as the main shareholder by 80 percent, and 20 percent will be the shares of employees of “Treps”.

The law drafted by the Government of Kosovo for the Kosovo Nation “Trepca”, later adopted by the Parliament, had prompted the reaction of official Belgrade, as this nation Serbia continues to consider it part of its economy, as it sees Kosovo as an integral part of Serbia within the pre-mult of the Constitution.
Sadiku says the failure of the Board poses a problem in making decisions for the mines found in the northern part of Kosovo, in which official authorities still have no access.

The “Six current board members can make decisions, as it is a majority, but the problem is the northern part, because in the mines in that part we have no access. This is the biggest problem”, Sadiku says.
On the other hand, Ibrahim Rexhepi, senior political adviser to the minister of economic development, has said that during this month, three members of the board are expected to be appointed by the Serbian community.

The issue is in the prime minister's office and is under way. We hope this case will be exceeded within this month. So are the promises and procedures that are under way when it comes to representation of three board members, coming from the Serb minority”, Rexhepi stressed.
The subx0> Tripca” plant was estimated to be one of the largest companies not only in Kosovo, but also in the former Yugoslavia.

In contrast, 17 business objects are found in the republics of the former Yugoslavia, 11 assets of this giant are located in Serbia, 3 in Bosnia and Herzegovina and 3 in Croatia.
