Most childhood leukemia is very likely to be avoided, said one of the best cancer scientists at a revolutionary discovery in treatment of the disease, writes Independent.
According to “andmark” analysis, infections can cause acute lymphoblastic leukemia [ AL] as a child but only with those who grow up in clean embryoic environments.
This means that exposure of babies to other children can actually protect them from the disease by filling “ ” their immune system against later infections.
Professor Mel Greaves of the Cancer Research Institute, which brought together more than 30 years of research to develop this theory, is now trying to work on treatment that can prevent cancer.
The most important variable is that most childhood leukemia is possible to avoid,” Professor Graves said. /Periscopi
