South Mitrovica's leaders, Agim Bahtiri and Faruk Mujka, have said there will be no negotiation on the Mitrovica border issue, however North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakiq is deliberately pushing the opening of the bridge just to negotiate the border issue once more
Although things have been completed in the revising of the Ibrit Bridge and the pedestrian area in the northern part of Mitrovica, chairman of this municipality Goran Rakiq of “has found” additional construction company work.
Municipal authorities in the north in recent days are removing part of the square-stone paved road. All this to show that the work is not finished.
This is not even pleasing the northern Serbs of Mitrovica, who think these jobs are being done for money laundering. They don't even understand the idea of northern municipal authorities opening up the “Knjaz Mihajlo”, in which it is working, writes further “Sound“.
On the other hand, southern Albanians even further use alternative routes to cross north of Mitrovica, though the bridge is ready for the flow of cars and vehicles.
South Mitrovica Chairman Agim Bahtiri has said that his counterpart from the north is deliberately dragging up the opening of the bridge because he wants again to open dialogue for the definition of the Mitrovica border.
“As far as administrative boundaries are concerned, everything is clear and there will be no dialogue about this issue. I don't believe there are political problems to open bridges, there are no other problems, but as far as the definition of the Mitrovica border is concerned, no centimeter can take the north. Absolutely not, because the high decision-making in Pristina has agreed with my opinion and as such has ended the dialogue between these two things, the bridge and the administrative border. I don't even want to have dialogue between these two questions”, Bahtiri said.
