Muslims and hate against Jews, young or old?

Politologist David Ranan has polarized his thesis on Muslim anti-Semitism. In an interview with Deutsche Welle, he requires a more different attitude towards anti-Semitic attitudes in Europe and the Middle East. Mobing against Jewish students, attacking a kidnapped man in Berlin, two German rappers who, with a string of tasteless and perceived antisemites songs received a prize: Anti - Semitism seems to be marching to Germany. According to a current statistics on criminality, the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs says it has marked slight growth in 2017, 2.5% of politically motivated criminal acts, including attacks against Jews or their centres. As authors of the attacks, more and more Muslims are exposed. Jewish communities fear an increase in the number of immigrants from Arab regions that the number of anti - Semits in Germany could rise.

German-British politician and anti-Semitism expert David Ranan has offered this debate with his book „Aristism Muslim. A danger to social peace in Germany? Many have matured or studied. The responses of those interviewed „to Jews” are read as typical antihehubra cliche. They capture the entire spectrum from Jewish power, Jewish money, and almost specific, which supermarket networks in Germany belong to Jews”, Ranan explains in interview with Deutsche Welle. The polytologist is surprised that even a young engineer spoke of the conspiracy theories „of 120 ionists who rule the whole world”. Asked what constitutes a ionist, she just said, „here is uncertainty. ”

The Role of Origin

At this point lies the key point of the debate, thinks Ranan, born 1946, the Jew himself. Where does anti - Semitism begin, and how is it marked by anticomidism and severe criticism of Israel? That's the question he deals with in his book. Such notions are often used as synonymous. But a difference between them is important, to better understand studies about the anti - Semitistic stance of Arab space, the expert explains. It's clearly said that there are anti-Semitics and that certain things are antisemite”, Ranan says. „But there's no deal on what it is.” He himself does not have a final answer. Ranan further supports the definition of British philosopher Brian Klug, who defines anti - Semitism as „a kind of hostility against Jews, such as Jews, for qualities attached to them. ”

The expert sees major differences between the old anti-Semitics in Europe and the relatively new attitude of many Muslims, which originated in the Near East. Israel experiences as powerful, helpless Palestinians. And it is this sense of powerlessness that moves young Muslims to take action against the Jews. According to him, the trigger for this anti - Semitism, unlike European anti - Semitism, is a real sense of injustice.

„While Christian, racist hatred developed in the West is something else”, Ranan says. „She started with the idea that the Jews killed Jesus, so God, and that's for Christians certainly unforgivable.” This story does not exist in Muslims. According to Ranan, there is a territorial conflict for a country between the „myslimians and Jews. ”

Ranan will not prejudge Muslims and present them more dangerous than other groups. And the figures give him the right. 95% of criminal acts with anti-Semitic background are not conducted by Muslims in Germany, but by right extremists. That is the answer the German government gives a request to Bundestag vice president Petra Pau (May) in February 2018.

Not fear?

But Ranan's book has polarized. On the Hebrew side, he listens to the charge of relativism. The question is whether there is reason for fear”, Ranan tells DW. „I believe fear is driven in part by the Jewish side, in part by the kind German philosophy, part by German calculator politicians”. What Ranan thinks: Even the AfD is presented, for instrumentalizing reasons as the Jewish anti-Semitary „> party”, though not a few representatives of this party have expressed themselves antisemitisticly.

For „understandable reasons” everything related to the fear of the Jews echoes immediately in politics and a part of the German population, Ranan believes. „But it should not be forgotten, that the Jewish people, the Jewish minority in general, and in Germany especially is a privileged minority. They feel good and their voice is heard.” According to him, the situation for about 5 million Muslims in Germany is much more difficult. „They don't even have access to the disk, nor do they listen. ”
