Sociologist Ferdi Kamberi, says shooting on holiday occasions is the custom, which is carried by the Albanian patriarchal system.
Ten murders have been recorded in Kosovo during the first four months of 2018, including several suicides from blind bullets.
Police spokesman Bajram Krasniqi confirmed this to Radio Kosovo, but who said that all killings in police are registered equally, whether they are from blind bullets or what other kind of murder.
However, Krasniqi said that Kosovo police have repeatedly called and organised different campaigns for senbilisation of citizens for not using weapons at holidays.
Kosovo's “Police during the summer season draw up an operational plan to take care of restaurants where parties and weddings are organised so that there are as little gun celebrations as possible. During the past year, police have confiscated 12,000 weapons of various kinds and about 26 thousand pieces of ammunition from various calibre”, Krasniqi said.
But the use of weapons on occasion of family holidays, sociologist Ferdi Camber, called it a habit of the past.
The replacement of old and new ties has led to this whole transformation, yet in some parts we are still stuck with a patriarchal system with several characteristics especially inherited from the hereditary right”, Kamberi says.
The burden of this tradition, according to Camber, should be of concern to all society.
This is a social phenomenon that has been passed on from generation to generation and has come as a result of the customary right, which through gun shooting has given a sign or notice that a day of joy or a festival has taken place from generation to generation until today. In fact, it is considered one of the disturbing phenomena, because we are witnessing that there have been consequences, which have resulted in the death of many people, and especially children who are a huge concern”, he said.
During the past year, 27 people have been killed in Kosovo, some of whom are blind bullets. /rtklives/
