The overall situation in northern Mitrovica is calm but sensitive, so it needs increased attention in that section, especially in populated areas with mixed populations.
So said Administration Director in the northern municipality of Mitrovica Adrijana Hodzic.
According to her, thanks to the Ministry for Communities and Kthim's support, in co-operation with the organisation The DRC, as well as the British Embassy in Kosovo, about 20 Albanian families have returned to the centre of northern Mitrovica so far, and the movement of citizens has improved markedly.
“Dal often in northern Mitrovica and I assure you that except for Serbs in the main mall, there are Albanians from the south who go out and walk and speak Albanian. I heard them myself. I'm not saying it's a pleasant situation, but there's free movement of Albanians in the north. They are mostly people who don't want to deal with high policies”, Hodzic said.
It has also cited great municipal support for institutions and citizens and parts indiscriminately.
We sent donations two weeks ago, including lp-top, printers, various students' inventory, etc., to the school éAziz Sylejmanião, located at the Mining Center in northern Mitrovica. We had renovated this school facility long ago as we assisted the ambulance in this neighborhood with a car and driver. We have also worked hard on improving infrastructure and better conditions for citizens of that part in general”, Hodzic stressed, citing street asphalt, lighting and similar.
It has appealed to central institutions to contribute more to co-existence in this part.
