In this case, MPB encourages all applicants, women and men, all ethnicities to apply for this position.
“Competition for working location: General Director of the Kosovo Police has been announced by the date 08.05.2018. The Ministry of Internal Affairs serves all the people of Kosovo. MPB encourages applicants, women and men, and undoubtedly encourages all ethnic minority groups in Kosovo to apply in that position”, they say, in their response.
According to “Police Law for”, Article 37, the candidate for the general director's position is selected and proposed by the commission, which is founded by the minister.
Then, the commission proposes to the minister the candidates for appointment in the position of Police Director General, while the minister at one of the Government's meetings proposes the candidate for the position, while the latter recommends the prime minister with the potential candidate.
Finally, the Police Director General appoints the prime minister.

It should be suggested that the general director's mandate has been five years, with the possibility of continuing. Otherwise, the chief of police, Shpend Maxhun, has left this position to move to the head of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI), as the latter was left without a leader after Driton Gashi's resignation.
