KFOR Commander Salvatore Cuoci has stated that if necessary, they are willing to assist Kosovo security authorities to conduct arrests on the occasion of the establishment of charges by the Special Court. He has spoken even of Russia's possible threats, saying that while KFOR is in Kosovo any aggression against the country is aggression against NATO
While KFOR is in Kosovo, any aggression against the country is aggression against KFOR and NATO.
So stated during an interview with the newspaper “Voice” KFOR Commander Salvatore Cuoci, commenting on Russia's possible threats to Kosovo and taking into account its continuing clashes with NATO.
In principle, KFOR is NATO and until KFOR is here any aggression in the country will be an aggression against KFOR and against NATO as well. I don't think there will be a direct threat to Russia for Kosovo. We may have a Russian influence of course, but this is part of the international policies that each country undertakes and essentially we don't see a real threat from Russia to Kosovo”, Cuoci has declared. KFOR commander has also indicated that the force he heads is ready to assist Kosovo security authorities if it is necessary to conduct arrests at the time the charges by the Special Court are established.
According to him, KFOR is responsible for providing a safe environment in the country and in the event of the establishment of charges, the launch of arrests, the organisation of any protest, and if Kosovo police are unable to manage the situation, then KFOR is ready to intervene.
In such cases we are willing to intervene, as this is part of our” mission, Cuoci said among others.
