European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker reveals confusion over the state of EU-Russia relations.
Juncker has called for an end to Russia's crash, two months after a response to the use of a nervous agent in Great Britain.
The president of the European Commission said he believed it was time to renew ties with Vladimir Putin's country, given its size and importance.
“I think we should connect to Russia”, Juncker told an audience in Brussels.
I'm not very happy with our relationship situation. We will never accept what Russia did with the Crimea or eastern Ukraine. However, we must bear in mind that the entire European Union territory is about 5.5 million square km. Russia [is] 70.5m [sq km]”, Juncker said today.
So we have to go back, I wouldn't say normal relations with Russia, but there are so many areas, so many areas where we can better co-operate with research and innovation and others. Without forgetting what our differences and dilemmas are. But this Russia's battle should end”, reports the Guardian”.
