Seven threats against journalists have been made since January of this year to date. It took just three days after the new year to make the first threat happen. Musa Sabedini was being owned by the director of urbanism in the municipality of Gjilan on 3 January. This municipality's official was arrested, but it is unknown whether necessary criminal measures have been imposed against him.
At the end of January we had the lynching campaign to the director of the portal “Insider”, Parim Olur, from a Facebook page. Kosovo Journalists Association [ The AGK had condemned the campaign, but it is not known whether the authors were prosecuted either.
In February, Kallxo.com journalist Taulant Osmani had been forced out of the Kosovo Assembly space. The AGK has said it was done by a person who was represented as the cabinet staff of the Speaker of the Parliament at the time as a member of the Kosovo Police.
On March 16th, journalist Joy Blakaj was threatened by a member of Parliament Security. Also in March, the Agency for Air Navigation Services had stopped communicating with journalist Ardiana Thaci Mehmeti because it had sought access to public documents.
Then, on March 20th, a team of Inseyder newspaper was threatened by the owner of a local company involved in the expired meat scandal. On March 26th, photoreporter Blerim Uka was attacked in northern Mitrovica. He had his work equipment broken. And the last had happened on April 1st, when Serbian Radio editor Mixhiaj had been painted for the second time by strangers, Periscope follows.
It is impossible to think that we have a satisfying freedom of the press when journalists are threatened and attacked for cases that even do not concern the highest state officials. In a country with a political corruption it is self-evident that freedom of journalists is most necessary. If journalists are attacked and can rowed for such minor cases, imagine what would happen if Kosovo journalists dealt with larger cases? /Periscopi
