European Integration Minister Donus Hoxha, in an interview for the Austrian newspaper “Wiener Zeitung”, has voiced confidence that there will be freedom of movement for Kosovars by the end of this year.
She said Kosovo has met all criteria for visa liberalisation and that the EU must recognise progress in Kosovo.
For more, we have had twice as many criteria to meet for visa liberalisation as other countries. But we have fulfilled it and the EU must recognise progress in Kosovo. I hope there will be freedom of movement for Kosovars by the end of this year, Minister Hoxha said.
She expects since the Sofia summit, attended by Kosovo, that EU politicians take more concrete steps in the enlargement process, while expressing regret over the fact that Spain draws a parallel between Catalonia and Kosovo.
Kosovo's “independence is legal. Spain has never committed crimes such as Serbia in Kosovo: there were acts of war, murders, mass expulsions, rape. Spain is a democracy and should not be compared to Serbia”, Minister Hoxha has indicated.
