Extremists Attack Thessaloniki Mayor

Greek extremists have attacked Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris, causing head, back and foot injuries.

Mayor Boutaris was attacked after attending the flag-taking ceremony at the commemoration of Greeks killed by Turks in World War II and the subsequent Greek-Turkish war, where Greeks suffered.

Busaris had faced sharp criticism for the proposal that Thessaloniki would have to think about the appointment of Macedonia “airport “under the name of renowned Greek basketball player Nikos Galis, given in the context of negotiations between Greece and Skopje for resolving the name dispute.
