Kosovo's regional hospitals have a lack of medical frameworks. However, in the latest competition announced by the Kosovo University Hospital Service days ago for the admission of experts, the latter have expressed no interest in hiring.
At Ferizaj General Hospital, 2 surgeons general had been sought until there were no candidates.
Also, at the Mitrovica hospital, there was no interest in applying for employment as a Neurology specialist, Otorinolaringology, as well as no interest in employment specialists in the efficient department of this hospital, where there is a shortage of doctors.
At the general hospital in Gjakova, although an Otorinolaringology specialist and radiology had been requested, there were no applicants here either.
Ahmet Aslan, director of the Gjakova hospital, told Radio Free Europe that the absence of expert field doctors is very large.
But experts, says Aslan, seem to have a goal of looking for jobs and better conditions.
He stressed the fact that the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo also remains as one of the countries where medical specialists want to be employed.
We have a deficit in several departments, for example in ophthalmology, which is just a 62-year-old doctor. We've opened competitions, for oRL ophthalmologist and regenology. The competition is still open, and no candidates have competed”.
“in the ORL ward are two doctors and one is over 63. I think that each department should have 5 doctors working with custody as we provide services to many patients not only for Gjakova but also for the entire district. Apparently, the new generations are leaving outside Kosovo, and the other is that they are more willing to work at KKUK”, Aslan said.
On the other hand, Shpend Fazliu, an information official at the University Clinical Centre in Kosovo, said that in the public competition announced on the part of this institution for free jobs, there were 22 different medical profiles, where 28 specialists were requested, within the General Hospital,
But, he says, the doctors' interest has been insufficient, even though there are free jobs approved in the 2018 budget.
The Kosovo University Clinical Hospital Service has announced competition for the admission of specialists, but there has been no interest in regional hospitals surprisingly. We as a hospital service invite all specialists who are unemployed to apply and complete the jobs for which there is a budget for 2018, and to help the citizens in need of those countries”, Fazliu said.
Mitrovica General Hospital Director Hamez Berisha told Radio Free Europe that although they need expert leming doctors, and the competition was announced by the University Clinical Hospital Service, nor in the hospital he runs has there been no professional expert on work.
The conglomerate has been announced for the needs we have for the pulmology department of the neuron as well as infectious. But there were no competitors”.
“We've previously accepted specialist and many departments have already been functional, but that the Infectia, Pulmology and Neurology are left without enough doctors”.
For those experts who were unemployed and we needed, we announced competition and accepted those doctors. This time, however, these experts, such as the lemia, have not competed. At present we have two doctors from neurology until in these two other departments from one, until all three departments need three doctors from these lemies, as it is a huge burden”, Berisha said.
However, the labor law does not force experts to work where there is a shortage, but it leaves the possibility of choosing where they want and can be employed. This law does not allow a doctor who has a working contract with a public health institution to apply in a regional hospital.
