During a meeting yesterday in the late hours, Christodourides has confirmed the EU member state's refusal stance on recognising Kosovo's independence.
“as far as it concerns another important issue involving Serbia, the Republic of Cyprus's stance on Kosovo's non-recognition is well known. I reiterated the friendly minister [Dacic], the clear position of the Republic of Cyprus, and the fact that in the absence of a mutually acceptable solution to the status issue of the region, Cyprus considers Pristina's unilateral declaration of independence to be illegal”, it has declared at the media conference mass meeting with the Serbian diplomat.
He has also spoken of Serbia's role in the Balkans, where Serbia according to him has a key role in achieving stability in the region, while commending Serbia for its role.
“We believe that Serbia plays a key role in achieving security and stability in the region, and in this context we commend Serbia for its important role. The Republic of Cyprus, as a member state of the European Union, but also because of historical ties, is interested in what is happening in the region and it is important to examine and we will do so in the near future”, he has declared, media reports in Serbia, broadcast Insander.
While the Serbian top diplomat, Ivica Dacic, expressed extremely happy words for the reconfirming of Kyrpos for not recognising Kosovo's independence.
“We are grateful to our Cypriot brothers, who in all international forums constantly respect the Kosovo issue”, has declared Dacic.
