During an interview for %s RTV Dukagini, the US ambassador, has stressed that 2018 should be the year of the dialogue's success.
I think there are things that are positive in the dialogue, but both sides are obliged to fulfill the obligations they have already made. I think 2018 should be the year of the success of dialogue, moving forward in the Kosovo-Serbia relationship, and making some progress”, Delawi said, Telegrafi writes.
Ambassador Delaway has further stressed that political parties should talk about what relations with Serbia will be like in the future.
“I think that over the past few months we have seen political parties talking, and I think this is very good for the political situation, as far as dialogue is concerned it is important that parties talk about what relations with Serbia will look like in the future”, Delawi said.
Speaking about the idea of exchanging territories as an option for Serbia to recognise Kosovo's independence, the US ambassador has stressed that the US does not support such an idea, and no other idea that would bring more problems than solutions.
“I think it blocks the creative thinking of both sides of how to achieve a final solution, we do not support the exchange of territory, nor the ideas that would cause more problems than the” solution, Delawi said.
He further added that establishing the Serbian Major Community Association does not see it as a threat to Kosovo, but good opportunity for increasing stability and understanding in those countries where they have lacked
Ambassador went on to add that rule of law is priority and government must work on it
It is far more important that Kosovo politicians, regardless of whether they are in Government, are they civil servants or in the Assembly, must pledge to be working for the state and the people of Kosovo, not for the cousin, niece or anyone else”, Delawie said.
