Confrontation and threats between professors at the Faculty of Agriculture

A talk of threatening tones had occurred at one of the offices of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Pristina “Hasan Pristina”. Protagonists of this statement were Professors Skender Muji, Driton Sylejmani, and the Mentor Thaci and Africa Hamid of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary at the UP.

The case occurred in April 2018 in the office of the prodeks where the case has been the replacement of the subject “Microbiology”, following the release of assistant Blerta Mehmed.

Professor Mentor Thaci, Afrem Hamid and Professor Dritton Sylejmani have placed “cth <x0-seconds] on Professor Skender Muji for these verbal threats and insults, while Professor Muji claims the insults were made by prodek Hamid and Professor Sylejmani himself.

Both sides have filed complaints with their claims about the course of the event, which are different.

The newspaper Life in Kosovo has two complaints, one handed over to the reactors and the other to the Ethik Council of the University of Pristina, cases that are under consideration.

First complaint: “This will end with a corpse”

The first complaint was made on April 27, 2018, where the prodek for veterinary medicine, Afrim Hamid, has made a “Not for personal offenses instead of work and physical threats” that have been handed over to the reactors.

The document owned by the newspaper Life in Kosovo, which holds the number of protocol 01-67, is written by prodek Afrem Hamid and signed by two others -- the other procurator Mentor Thaci and Professor Driton Sylejmani who witnessed the case.

In this letter, the prose, Africa Hamid, has shown how the whole case happened.

Prodeman Hamid claims he has been threatened with life and offended by Professor Skender Muji.

Even prodeman Hamiti, wrote that the behavior of Professor Skender Muji is indiscreet, which negatively affects management work and the image of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary.

Prodeman Africa Hamiti claims that physical safety with such behavior of Professor Skender Muji is being violated.

“I hope this announcement will be considered and taken into account because such behaviors interfere with the carrying out of obligations, violate physical security, education processes, and also diminish the value and image of the institution”, it says in the letter of prodjen Hamiti.

At the end of this letter, prodeman Hamiti has explained that Professor Skender Muji has no call to maintain microbiology.

“It is unclear his motive and the insistence on learning in this subject and that there is no authorization”, Hamiti wrote in his letter to the Rectorate.

Second complaint: Two hands for one head.

The newspaper Life in Kosovo has also secured the second complaint made by Professor Skender Muji, addressed to the Ethical Council of the University of Pristina, claiming he was offended and threatened by profrem Hamid and Professor Dritton Sylejmani while he was in conversation with prodekan Mentor Thaci. The two complaints made are given different dates of when verbal fighting and physical threats occurred.

The prosecution on financial issues at the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary has written in his complaint that the insult to him and the physical threat occurred on April 26th, while according to Professor Skender Muji's complaint this case occurred on April 25th 2018.

He says he was in the professor's office for teaching when Professor Sylejmani intervened and later took offense from prodek Hamid.

I asked the Mentor Thaci prod to intervene and fix this case so that no surprise or scandal befall the students and keep the image of the faculty. They returned me with rhetoric and cynical terms about what the scandal is going to happen by addressing me as to whether you want to kill us? I've been told that two hands are for a head, and he wrote Muji admitting what was addressed to Professor Sylejmani and Hamid.

In the complaint contained in the newspaper Life in Kosovo, Professor Skender Muji has continued to speculate on threats, saying he is bowing to death.

And the Professor Driton Sylejmani threatens me with the words that they're going to get you out of the hall and I answer that if it's written by God, I'm going where I'm going, but neither do you. Then Professor Africa Hamid in his support began by insulting me with the words that you are the shame of faculty, university, Kosovo and Albanian, accusing me of coming drunk! ”, Muji wrote in his complaint.

Muji for the Ynk Journal has said that during the day of the threat he was engaged in college and did not consume alcohol.

I had a class that day and then exams. I've been engaged until 1500. I don't know where I could drink rakia and I'm not the person I meet that group. You know what the workplace is, first of all, there's no drinking on time, but they said those things because they didn't have any other arguments, and to add something, they had to say so”, Professor Muji said.

Muji, at the end of his complaint, has said that being threatened and offended by prodefrem Hamid and Professor Driton Sylejmani has left the office not to clear the situation.

This case is also a part of the previous behaviors and flustrations of these professors, who know to be disrespectful and conflicting, especially Professor Africa Hamid, who is also inciting the situation in question”, wrote Professor Muji.

Contacted by the newspaper Life in Kosovo, prodeman Africa Hamid and Professor Driton Sylejmani have declined to talk about this case.

Even the prodek of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary, Africa Hamid, said this issue is not about opinion or journalism.

I'm busy right now because I have lectures, but maybe later after work hours we talk about it. It wasn't much that journalism was involved in this procedure. Maybe after work hours we can contact each other. I believe this case will be settled and it's not worth it if you get an opinion, do you understand”, Hamid said.

Contacted them again, Prodean Hamid did not want to be promoted, saying he is not interested in communicating with journalists.

The “has been a minor disagreement and as if it was arranged and I believe it's not worth echoing. I'm not interested in communicating very much with journalists, and I'm not willing to cooperate in this regard. If you have something more productive for the opinion of serving something more productive, I'm ready for food security”, Hamid said.

Even Professor Driton Sylejmane refused to comment on the matter, saying that it is before the beginning of the speeches and that I cannot relate this case in two or three words.

But he was contacted several more times by the newspaper Life in Kosovo, Professor Sylejmani has not responded to calls for the occasion.

While Professor Skender Muji has said that he has felt insulted, threatened, and blackmailed.

Professor Muji says Africa Hamid was also his prodek appointed at the time he held the dean's position at the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary. But for all this situation created, he says the “has the gene earlier this “issue, giving no details about what it is about.

Dean Kachiu: It's too heavy what happened

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary, Skender Kaciu, contacted by the newspaper Life in Kosovo, has acknowledged that there has been a stir between professors of this academic unit.

When this happened, I wasn't here, I was out of faculty. They have filed a complaint with the Ethic Council, and they already have the subject. It has been thus overcome, there has been a confusion of the moment, a dictionary that may not have been used. But it is over, and the subject is already on the Ethik Council”, Kaciu said.

He said it is very serious what happened between the prodek and the professors, but said he is awaiting the Steering Council's decision on the case.

I think it's going to be solved, that's not happening. It's very heavy what's happened unfortunately, but we'll look for the measures further we'll get”, dean Kaciu said.

Dean showed that for the subject that was assisted by Blerta Mehmed, there will be special commissions for students to take the exam because she's on leave of leukemia.

Prodeman Africa Hamid and Professors Dritton Sylejman of Skender Muji has gone to the Ethical Council of the University of Pristina to investigate and decide on this verbal clash that took place in April 2018 at the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary. Members of the Ethical Council of the University of Pristina at the meeting, held on May 2nd 2018, have reviewed the complaints of prods Africa Hamid, Mentor Thaci and Professor Driton Sylejmani, as well as the complaint by Professor Skender Muji.

The head of the Ethical Council, Ishet Morina, has not responded to this case even though he has asked that we convey the questions to him at his electronic address.

Professor Skender Muji says he has not yet accepted a decision by Keshillio Ethik, but has heard that the Council intends to reconcile them but not to decide on “punishment” or “disciplinary measures against those proven to have violated the Ethical Code of the University of Pristina.
