Works on the construction of Decani-Plava Street are under way five kilometers from the monastery's protected zone.
The Serbian Church had asked for a break in the works, arguing that the Kosovo government illegally started construction on the Decan-Plav Transit Road, within the special protected zone around the Decani Monastery, writes Koha Ditore today.
Despite the opposition of the Orthodox Church authorities, whose support was offered to the international authorities, the work has not been interrupted.
Excavors have continued to work on Monday, when the “Cohaere” team has stayed there. One of the company's employees has told the paper that the road opening is continuing and that they are suggested to stay at least five kilometers from the monastery area. Even Decani municipality officials have been denying the ban.
