Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Albin Kurti has been debating Top-Channel on Albanian television today with Mentor Nazarkon, Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli's political adviser.
The debate between Kurt and Nazarkos began when Kosovo's top diplomat adviser said Vetevendosje is a contradictory party and that it is a party that has no clear ideas. Nazarko accused Vetevendosje of changing its stance over the years and that it has “conflicted with religious extremism” in Kosovo.
“Vetevendosje was against UNMIK administration in Kosovo, while later decided to enter parliamentary elections; Vetevendosje says it is about joining Albania, but I find it difficult to find out what the party she co-operates with in Albania for this idea. So, there is no party in extremist Albania like Vetevendosje in Kosovo; Vetevendosje says it's about national unity, but only in the last phase has it begun to compile what's called: The economic union”, Nazarko said.
Nazarko also said that the “Vetevendosje movement generally appears as a secular party, while systematically flirting with religious extremism”.
But Kurti has responded to all the charges that Nazarko addressed to the Vetevendosje Movement. The VV leader has said Vetevendosje had entered parliamentary elections only after Kosovo's proclamation of independent state in 2008.
We participated after Kosovo's independence and not during the time of Kosovo's international administration. But we have continued our activity and have criticised the EULEX mission in Kosovo. All the shares we've been doing, have had political intentions. We may have damaged the machine, the walls, but we have kept prison for this, unlike the corrupt politicians in Kosovo who never held one day in prison, Kurti said.
Vetevendosje leader has said that “we don't think we make the national union, but national unity made us. Even if we don't have supporters here in Albania, we will continue to have that conviction”.
As for the “conflict with Islamic Islam Islam” under Nazarko's accusations, Kurti has indicated that Vetevendosje is against Islamophobia, which, as Kurti has said, has installed corrupt rulers in Kosovo.
“We are a political subject that loves the state of Kosovo as a secular state; with a distance from all institutions. But we are against Islamophobia that spread our powers who want to establish Islam as Kosovo's number one problem, but we reject Islamfobi”, Kurti said.
