Two were the points for which Albania received the maximum assessment from Council of Europe President Donald Tusk.
In a joint statement with Prime Minister Edi Rama, he first listed Albania's firm position along with European allies and the United States. As an example, the response was to the attack by nervous agents on former Russian agent Sergei Scripal.
“Albania showed in the Scripal case that it is one of the European Union's most loyal partners, he said.
The next point was religious tolerance.
I value Albania's unique brand for religious tolerance and coexistence. These are the foundations we can build the common future and I have the personal sense that you are more European here than some Europeans of the EU”, the head of the European Council said.
The president also noted deepening co-operation among the countries of the region in all areas, not as an alternative to the EU, but as a means to work in behalf of the citizens of the Western Balkans themselves. / TCh/
