Thaci: Sofia Summit, a New Chance

I just held a telephone conversation with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, a state currently leading the European Union Presidency.

We talked about the Sofia Summit, which is important for the travel of Western Balkan states towards EU membership. We also confirmed that we will meet very soon for our bilateral and Euro-Atlantic agenda co-ordination.

I stressed the need to clarify the European perspective for Kosovo, as a precondition for creating a new dynamic in meeting the criteria needed for full EU membership.

The Sofia summit for Kosovo is a new chance of advancing relations with the European Union.

It was a common position that should continue dialogue on normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia, as a must for ensuring lasting peace in the Western Balkans.
