A sedentary way of life harms not only humor but also the brain. New research confirms what other studies had said long ago: “spending many hours on the computer does bad”.
Researchers at the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA), reports abcnews, have published a study confirming what other researchers have long stated: “overextension of time on the table damages the brain and reduces its ability to create new memories”.
Study. Research has tested 35 volunteers (25 women and 10 men) between the ages of 45 and 75, monitoring how many physical activity they have performed every day and how much time they have been sitting each day.
Researchers have placed volunteers in magnetic resonances to evaluate the brain region that affects memory formation and memory function.
The results showed that those who spent a long time sitting (between 3 and 7 hours) had smaller media lobes that were much shorter than they had been sitting. Halling is inevitable over the years. But it was greater among those who lived a life sitting.
Get up and walk! According to researchers, this signal should not be taken for granted because this means a loss of so - called episodeal memory and may be an important indication for you to be affected by Alzheimer's or other mental illness in old age in the future.
It is not the first time a study compares the life of sitting down and physical health. Another recently published research had also pointed to earlier mortality.
But how can you co-ordinate your job and your health? A solution, for example, is advisable to stop work and take frequent vacations. Perhaps taking advantage of lunch rest or extra time to walk and refresh your brain.
