Serbian opposition parties do not prevent Kosovo's participation as state at Sofia Summit

Most opposition parties in Serbia think that Serbia's president, or prime minister, should participate in the EU summit for the Western Balkans that will be held in Sofia on May 17th, and which will also participate in the Republic of Kosovo, writes Periscopi. However, Serbian heads of state have not yet made a decision whether someone from Belgrade will go to the summit, as Spain, Cyprus and Romania have cancelled the turnout due to the participation of the Republic of Kosovo, despite the fact that Kosovo's neutral statutes have issued from Bulgaria.
However, Republic of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has confirmed the participation in this summit.
Meanwhile, Aleksandar Vuciq at a press conference has said that before the date of this summit there will be many important meetings.
But SDS official Marko Djurisic thinks Vuciq should be present. He has said that this summit is important for Serbia because the European perspective of the Western Balkans is to be confirmed, and concrete steps are taken on this road from all sides.
“If the president sincerely thinks Serbia should follow the European path, then I should participate in the summit. The presence of Pristina representatives cannot be an obstacle, and I am sure there will be a way to this problem” has said Djurispic, reports Periscope.
So does DS member Natasa Vuckovic, who for Danas has said that Serbia should participate in the summit because of its political priorities, which one of the most important is EU accession.
“solation has never brought anything good” has said Vuckovic.
Other opposition party officials LDP have said that a clear European perspective would be an extraordinary chance for the region, calling for overcoming old conflicts.
“Prime Minister Ana Brnabic must participate, because she has the capacity to manage another of Serbia's isolation from the Western world, however long this isolation” can be said in the party's response to Danas, Periskopi reports.
This summit is expected to be a confirmation of the Western Balkans' focus return to the European Union, as well as further EU enlargement in this part.
Spain was the first state to be declared against participating in this summit due to the participation of the Republic of Kosovo, which was later backed by Cyprus and Romania.
However, there is still no official announcement that any of the states have cancelled the turnout./Periscopi/
