President Hashim Thaci in co-operation with Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has named Shpend Maxun chief of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI) during the day.
Maxhuni has held the position of Kosovo Police General Director for 7 years now.
He had been appointed director of the Kosovo Police in 2011, during the time of Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, who was appointed today as AKI chief.
According to his CV, which is published on the Kosovo Police page, Maxhun has been promoted to the Lieutenant's rank in 2001, while since then he has been promoted to all positions.
Maxhun so far has had these positions: Regional Commands, Assistant Director General for Operations and Deputy Director General for Operations.
According to the CV, Maxhun graduated from post diplomatic studies, in International Relations and Diplomacy at Albania's Regional Diplomatic Academy.
The CV is said to have graduated from the College for International Studies and Security “Liders of the 21”, where they were trained in George C. Marshall from the European Centre for Security Studies.
Maxhuni has also graduated from master studies at Pristina International University at the International Management and Leadership branch.
In addition, Maxhuni is also the candidate for the Doctorate on security issues at Military University in Tirana.
Shpend Maxhuni, now the chief of AKI, lives in Pristina along with his wife and two children.
