International experts with the chemical weapons monitoring agency have arrived at the site where they suspect a chemical attack was carried out on 7 April in the Syrian town of Dama, the Russian Foreign Ministry has announced.
Inspectors of the Organisation for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons have arrived in Duma, located near the capital of Damascus, the Russian ministry's announcement reported.
The security for experts from the Organisation for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons is guaranteed not only by the Syrian side, but also by the Russian Army in Syria”, it is said further in the statement.
International inspectors have been in Syria for a week but have been unable to travel towards the country, where the chemical attack allegedly took place, which left dozens dead.
The United States, France and Britain blame the Syrian Government for the attack and in response, have carried out air strikes in Syria.
The Syrian government and its ally Russia deny they stand behind this attack.
The city of Duma was under the control of rebel groups at the time of the attack. The rebels left this city just days after the suspected chemical attack.
