Bejtush Gashi is the new interior affairs minister and will replace fired Flamur Sefaj for the deporting scandal of six “gylents” in Turkey.
His appointment has been made by Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, and has announced through a Facebook post.
But Albert Krasniqi, who monitors the work of the Parliament, has said the appointment of new ministers should be done through the approval of the Kosovo Assembly.
The appointment of new ministers must be made through the approval of the Assembly. Today the new Minister of Internal Affairs has been appointed. The past minister was elected by the Parliament, while this young man, who replaces it, is named only by the prime minister, bypassing the Parliament. This has been the practice so far”, Krasniqi has written.
According to him, this practice is contrary to the spirit of how the Constitution has preceded the election of members of the government.
It's the power of the Government's choice. Government members must pledge their oath before the Assembly. The Assembly should elect members of the government every time replaced, not only the first time after the elections, it is over.
