Tensions created between Kosovo and Turkey following the deportation of six Turkish citizens have brought Hashim Thaci to Tirana.
Kosovo's president has met in the capital with Prime Minister Edi Rama. There are no further details from the meeting, but what is known is that Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama preserves a close report with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The latter has been targeted in his statements by Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj following the dismissal he made to Kosovo Interior Minister and Intelligence Chief in connection with the extradition of six “gylenists”.
Meanwhile, the US State Department earlier distributed a declaration supporting the Government of Kosovo following the deportation of Turkish citizens.
Hashim Thaci's surprise visit comes even at a difficult moment for the Rama Government, placed under pressure from protests on the National Road fee, which is opposed to Kosovo.
