On Wednesday, the United Nations Court partially rejected Sheshel's release from charges of crimes against humanity, condemning him to 10 years in prison.
However, the Mechanism for International Tribunals said Seshel has already served the sentence, taking into account the time it has stayed in custody at The Hague.
I will now take some legal measures to reject this trial, but the most important is that I am proud of all the war crimes that have been attributed to me and crimes against humanity. In the future, I am ready to repeat”, said Seshel, who has repeatedly denied the charges against him.
Seshel is accused of committing crimes against non-Serbs in Croatia, in the Serbian region of Vojvodina, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the wars of the 1990s.
In a controversial decision, in March 2016, The Hague Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia judges have acquitted him of all charges.
But prosecutors who have appealed this decision have said that all evidence has not been taken into account during the Schehel trial.
