North Korea has promised the United States that it is ready to discuss the future of its nuclear arsenal when the leaders of the two countries meet, American officials said.
Preparations for the meeting between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un include secret and direct conversations with North Korea, the Trump administration's unidentified sources said, the BBC reports.
The summit is expected to take place in May.
This will be the first time a US president has met the leader of North Korea.
Phenjani has already told South Korea that he is willing to address disunlearization, but this is the first time they have given direct guarantees to Washington.
