The Ministry of Trade and Industry aimed at continuing the protection of local production, which is a priority, following an investigation of the relevant department, Trade and Industry Minister Bajram Hasani has taken protective measures for milk, based on legal competencies in accordance with Article 1 and Article 1 of Article 2. 041/L-047, as well as relevant provisions of the CEFTA Agreement.
The decision has come in the wake of an investigation that has been found that import from Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased by 20 per cent and has affected damage to local products in the fact that importation of milk products from Bosnia and Herzegovina is at low cost, which is under the cost of local milk products.
As outlined in Article 8 of the Import Protection Measures Law, there is sufficient basis for determining that import growth, as well as the conditions under which this import is carried out, threatens to cause serious damage to local producers of similar products.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry is authorised, given sufficient evidence, to implement the law to protect milk products producers when threatened to suffer serious damage from import of Bosnia and Herzegovina-born milk.
These safeguard clauses affect thousands of producers and milk processing operating on the Kosovo market.
The Ministry of Trade and Industry will continue with safeguard clauses for local producers, at the moment proven to have legal grounds.
