Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj is participating in the Digital Summit of the Western Balkans, which for the first time is being organised in Skopje, Macedonia.
In his address to summit participants, Prime Minister Haradinaj said the organisation of this summit is an extremely important step to advance the vision of integration and co-operation between Balkan countries and the digital European market.
Kosovo considers that information technology and communication are extremely important for economic development. We are committed to having access to the ICT and co-operation with the World Bank, we are preparing the KODE programme and we are convinced that the Balkans Digital Highway initiative will strengthen regional co-operation further”, he said.
What is important for Kosovo's economy, Haradinaj has added, is that the Government is working to have regional co-ordination for a free economic zone in roaming and in co-operation with Western Balkan countries, while Kosovo has initiated the initiative for the Rojangu Regonal agreement.
Haradinaj also mentioned the fact that an advanced policy and infrastructure for Information and Information Technology has been established in Kosovo, where about 86 percent of residents have access to the 3G or 4G network and the country has scored a good advantage trend in the last five years, while Kosovo is preparing the way for access to the GEANT education and research network.
The country's digital advantage is also Kosovo's approach to the European platform, as long as it has direct impact on the country's stable economy, good governance, social development, education and science, health and sustainable energy.
Kosovo is committed to being on the move with all technological advances by co-operating with countries in the region and drawing closer to the European family.
The Digital Summit of the Western Balkans has brought together senior representatives of Western Balkan countries, regional co-ordinators, civil and academic society, young people, and aims to exchange ideas and proposals among the participating countries.
In contrast, a part of the Western Balkan Digital Summit panel, whose executive is Macedonia's prime minister, Zoran Zaev, besides Prime Minister Haradinaj, were Denis Zvizdzic, chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Thomas Bareis, the parliamentary secretary of state, the Federal Ministry for Economic and Energy, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Deputy Prime Minister of Albania, Senida Mes, Montenegrin Economy Minister Dragica Sekic, European Commissioner for Economics and Social Affairs, Mariya Gabriela, as long as US Secretary for RCC Goranvilov was run.
