Haradinaj's Thaci nominated Shpend Maximun as AKI director

The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, along with the country's prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj, has today appointed the new director of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (AKI).
President Thaci and Prime Minister Haradinaj decided on the appointment of Shpend Maximun, director of the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.
As the communiqué from the presidency reports, the appointment was made based on Article 84 (21), Article 94 (8) and Article 129 (3) of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as Article 5 (3 and 5) of Law No. 03/L-063 for the Kosovo Intelligence Agency.
AKI Director Driton Gashi, who has offered the request by Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj. Gashi was asked to free his position weeks ago, following the scandal to expel six Turkish citizens from Kosovo.
Shpend Maxhun is currently the director of the Kosovo Police.
