Former FBI Director: I was convinced Hillary Clinton would win

Former director of The FBI, unexpectedly fired from Trump last year, announced in July 2016 that it would not file charges in the investigation into Hillary Clinton's email practices.
But in a very controversial move, Comey told Congress just days before the elections, that the FBI was reviewing additional emails about the investigation. In early November, Comey had announced to lawmakers that those emails did not require further action.
In a clip published by ABC News on Saturday, George Stephanopoulos asks Comey for his motive in these reports before Congress.
“Was the decision to do so influenced by your belief that Hillary Clinton would win and concern that if she won and the news was revealed a few weeks later she would be considered by her opponents as a sign that she is an illegal president?”, Stefanopoulos asks.
This could have been it! I don't remember consciously thinking about it, but it might have been. I was acting in a world in which Hillary Clinton could beat Donald Trump. That was a factor. I don't remember ever saying that, but I may have felt it. If she were elected President and I would hide the facts from the American people, it would be legalisation”, answers Comey.
In his book, “A high loyalty”, Comey expresses a similar feeling when he writes: “It is possible that because I was making decisions in an environment where Hillary Clinton seemed certain to win, my concern that I would make her illegal Presidents by announcing that I would reopen the investigation, it took on greater importance than if the outcome seemed to be different, or whether Donald Trump was at the top of the <x>
Clinton himself cited the Comey investigation as one of the reasons he lost his election.
